There are 15 sinful deeds that our sinful nature is vulnerable to and for the next 15 weeks, we are going to be covering all of them and see how we can prevent falling victims to such practices.

Our first stop is fornication, A.K.A., having sex outside of marriage.

Fornication

Don’t be foolish in falling in the hands of the trends of this world; trends such as losing your virginity as if it was some game or seeing how many partners you can sleep for to gain recognition or something.

Fornication is part of sexual immorality and it is one where it hurts the Temple of God, which is your body.

Think about it: The 3 temptations of the world are all pretty horrible but the lust of the flesh one is pretty awful to another extent.

Lust of the eyes goes to your mind then your actions, the pride of life also goes to your mind and action but the lust of the flesh has a lot to do with your body, your flesh, which was bought by the blood of Christ that shed for us on the Cross.

“Run away from sexual immorality [in any form, whether thought or behavior, whether visual or written]. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the one who is sexually immoral sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]? You were bought with a price [you were actually purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body.” ‭‭
— 1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:18‬-20 AMP‬‬

It is written right there that when we are sexually immoral with our bodies, we are pretty much being immoral with the temple of the Holy Spirit.

Instead of shaming our bodies like that, we should be honouring them in every way we can for it is not truly ours but the Holy Spirit’s.

How to watch out for it?

Here are a few tips, some that I have embraced, to stay clean of promiscuity:

  1. Step away from and prevent being in environments that will sexually trigger you.

  2. Avoid sexually triggering content - e.g. - Pornography, series and movies that display lots of sexual content (Forget about the Fifty Shades!)

  3. PRAY! Like, a whole lot because sexual temptation ain't no joke. It can physically hurt so make sure you are spiritually armoured to fight the temptation.
