For those who want to save people: This is for you!

Sometimes, in this crazy life, we meet those people that truly begin to matter to us in a matter of seconds and those are also the people who are far from God, the people who appear to ha lost faith in Him or haven't even had faith in Him, to begin with.

You know, the people we are so touched into saving that it aches too much to see them in pain or oblivion.

Those people who have lost faith and we just want them to get back to it so bad that we try to everything we can to do so; we try to move beyond ourselves to try and save them from the darkness they are in, try making them see that there's more to life than what it is and that God is still out there.

We try to save those friends and family members of ours that are in a pretty dark place and can't seem to get out of.

We try to save those friends and family members who have no faith in God by doing everything we can to bring them to God, exhausting all our energies and ideas.

We believe that we can save them but, I am afraid we are only setting ourselves up for disappointment if we keep on doing so.

No matter how hard we try, we can't save people and we aren't called to.

As Christians, we aren’t called to save lives but, to spread the Good News and make disciples in all nations.

We don’t save people.

Sure, we have doctors who help save lives, we have psychologists who help bring people out of dark states of mind, we have firefighters who save others from imminent danger, and we have more practitioners out there doing their utmost best to save people and they succeeding but, true salvation doesn't come from man.

A doctor can prevent you from dying but, they can't bring true salvation... Salvation from eternal damnation.

Surely, a psychologist/therapist can help you out of depression but, they can't provide the true source of joy because, well, the source is a Person.

So, we can try to bring people out of their dark places by providing encouraging words, taking them to see a professional and even by making them laugh here and there but, we can't save them.

Salvation doesn't come from man but, from God. True salvation, anyways.

“Jesus is the only One who can save people. No one else in the world is able to save us.” - Acts 4:12 NCV

Unlike us, God can bring anyone out of the darkness because He is the Light (John 8:12) that cleanses away all our transgressions (1 John 1:9) and transforms us (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Unlike us, God is the One who can save people from eternal damnation, bringing them out of oblivion and shedding truth on the lies they are believing, whether they come from within or without them.

We, as Christians and bearers of His image (Genesis 1:27) and message, share the great truth that we know and we trust God to do the rest. We trust Him to do the saving because He is the only one who can do it.

He does the convicting part.

He does the saving part (Acts 4:12, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:16.

He does the restoration part (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

God is the one at work in and through people, and we are blessed enough to be included in His plan to bring His people to Him.

So, don’t worry too much about whether people will be changed or not when you share the reason behind your faith because it is not your job to save them.

Surely, you can always be there for people, let the light of Christ shine through you to them but, it is that Light, Christ Himself, who will do the saving part.

As His people, we weren't called to save people but, to point them to the One who does and help them journey to Him. Be there with them as we all take our steps of faith towards God, being sanctified and guided every day by His Spirit.

Though we don't do the saving, we can surely play a vital part by journeying with them to God.

So, be there for them as best you can, always making sure to let the light of Jesus shine through you to them and trusting God to do one of the things He does best: Bring people to Him.

So, don't exhaust yourself by trying to bring salvation to them. Instead, point them to the One who can save and trust that He will do the rest.

And, though you can't save them, you are still an image-bearer of God and can surely be there for them, in whichever way God has best equipped you to be.

Perhaps, you can even be there for those who are needing your help and love, like the local needy:

For just $1/month, you can help us provide basic food, water and clothing to the needy so, if it is within you to do so, please do.
